Omaha Public Safety Training Center

Omaha, Nebraska

Engineers with Performance Engineering provided structural engineering services for the new Omaha Public Safety Training Center building that is located directly adjacent to the recently completed Nebraska National Guard’s North Omaha Readiness Center. The new facility includes approximately 71,000 square feet of training space for the Omaha Police and Fire Departments. The areas include a large tactical training area with a roof clear span of 90 feet, administrative offices, classrooms, mezzanine storage space, and 2 gun firing ranges. The building is a 2-story structure with a portion below grade.

One of the main elements of the building includes a wall system that will divide the space between the tactical training area and a single story, classroom area. The steel and masonry wall framing is a key element that ties this building architecturally into the adjacent Readiness Center.

The project was awarded 2010 Fire Chief Station Style – GOLD for Training Centers.
